About Marthrown of Mabie

Marthrown of Mabie is right in the heart of the forest, away from the hustle and bustle of the world. Although its only a few miles from the town of Dumfries its completely surrounded by forest and this makes the sounds of modern life dissapear.

Its a great spot to relax and unwind, with a sauna on site and simple accomodation. Its also perfect as a base for mountain biking, off road biking, walking holidays or nature breaks.

The natural and ancient forest is also planted in places by the forestry commision in a sympathetic way. Two lochs and a few ponds with the variety of trees means that an amazing variety of wildlife abounds. Red squirrels and woodpeckers come right into the courtyard and many rare species of insect and bird life are in the area.

If you are looking for a place to have a party, the roundhouse is ideal. And we can arrange with you other activities to do during the day, eg quad biking and clay pigeon shooting (off-site) and mounain bike hire.

Family parties are one of our popular events, with a variety of activities, low ropes courses, baking bread in the ironage roundhouse, open fired clay models, celtic painting and so on.

We are a multi-resource centre and have high ropes and canoes on site, we can arrange outdoor education, team building days and more...
