Catering

We have a well equipped catering style kitchen and large cosy dining room the centre piece of which is a stonkingly good wood burning stove.
If you want a break from the hassles of shopping and cooking we can offer a full range of meals provided by Pam who is a fully trained chef.

Our meals are reasonably priced and are good home cooking. Vegetarian options are always available as are salads in hot weather.

Tea, coffee, sugar and milk are available at any time so you can brew up whenever you feel like it.

For groups of 40 or over we can offer a hog roast for a very special meal. Watch the hog as it slowly sizzles away over the whole day to produce the most succulent pork you’ve ever eaten and the crackling is cooked to perfection (hopefully!). Prices on application.

A large barbecue area is available for your use on the lawn.
Bring your own food or we can prepare your BBQ so you only have to cook it, or we can cook it for you .

You can also self-cater if that is what fits your needs. Staple ingredients such as tea, coffee, sugar, milk, flour, cooking oil, herbs, spices etc. are provided.

Head out of Dumfries on the Solway Coast road (A710) towards New Abbey, passing through the village of Islesteps.
• 1.65 miles after the bridge following 30mph sign in Islesteps take the turning up to the right marked Mabie Forest and Mabie House Hotel.
• Follow the road up until you get to the sign for Mabie House Hotel, bear left and follow the signs for “Marthrown of Mabie Education Centre” between a white building and a wooden one, past the bike hire shop and through the gate onto the forest track (Speed limit 15mph).
• Proceed up the track for exactly a mile where you will find us on the left.
