"For me Marthrown is the most magical place in Scotland ! Tucked away up in the forest, you feel like you’ve entered a different world away from everything. For a quiet camping weekend or a great getaway with all your friends staying in the roundhouse or tipi, it’s such a special experience. The food is amazing – if you have enough people try the hog roast – it’s phenomenal!! Pam, Mike and Matt who run the place are completely lovely and will stop at nothing to make sure your stay is brilliant. We love Marthrown so much we decided to get married there: We spent 5 days in the forest with all our friends having bonfires, BBQs, doing activities like the high ropes course, enjoying the hot tub and having parties in the roundhouse… then had the most perfect wedding ceremony in the sunshine surrounded by bluebells. Amazing."

Directions • Head out of Dumfries on the Solway Coast road (A710) towards New Abbey, passing through the village of Islesteps.
• 1.65 miles after the bridge following 30mph sign in Islesteps take the turning up to the right marked Mabie Forest and Mabie House Hotel.
• Follow the road up until you get to the sign for Mabie House Hotel, bear left and follow the signs for “Marthrown of Mabie Education Centre” between a white building and a wooden one, past the bike hire shop and through the gate onto the forest track (Speed limit 15mph).
• Proceed up the track for exactly a mile where you will find us on the left.
